TED&KATIE met working on Native Krakens of American Waterways, an important, culture-shifting campaign highlighting the experience of endangered deodorant animals for Old Spice.
It turned out not only were Katie and Ted working at the same company on the same projects, but Katie also happened to move in about 200 yards down the road from Ted.
Was it meant to be, or just an incredible opportunity for carpooling?
After four years of being best friends, sometimes playing on four soccer teams at once, creating a comprehensive rating scale of pizza in the Portland metro area, and traveling together to places like Brazil, LA, and France for the 2019 World Cup, they got their answer: It wasn’t about the carpooling.
In the middle of Covid, Katie traveled to Nantucket for a week to see Ted, who was there "running away from his life in Portland." It did not take long for both of them to realize they loved each other. Two months later, they left Nantucket together and road-tripped back to Oregon.
Then they road-tripped across America two more times, collecting antiques, hiking, acquiring a second dog named Arthur to accompany Birdie, who was done with being the third, singing their favorite karaoke songs, and generally having way too good of a time. They wondered the whole time, is it supposed to be this easy? Is it supposed to be this fun? Should we fight?
Since then, they’ve never left each other’s side. If you’ve made it this far, it’s time to make this about you. And enough is enough with this third-person stuff. We want our favorite people by our sides as we take the next step. And if you’re reading this, you are one of those incredible people in our lives, and we love you so, so much.
